What is a “Music widget”?

A music widget is a snippet of programing dealing with music, that you would put into the HTML template of your blog. Most people looking for music widgets, are looking for something that plays their music on their site. Not all music widgets do this. Some play one track of your choice. Others play multiple tracks that you choose. There are music widgets that display the titles of tracks that you are currently listening to and others that allow you to play music found on other sites. There are even music widgets that allow you to upload your tracks to a “playlist” and allow your readers to listen to your choice of music.

You have to decide what you want your music widget to do. Once you do, you just need to pick one and try it out. If you have problems with it, like it’s too slow to load or music choices suck, you need to let the developer of the widget know. The widget developer thinks their widget is the best thing since sliced bread. Without feedback, their widget might continue to suck and they wont know what to do to improve it. Feedback is important.

The ultimate music widget would allow you to upload your music of choice, allow your users to listen and rate/vote on each track, allow them to purchase tracks/albums and you get the affiliate $$ for the sale.
I havent seen this one yet!
I have seen some that allow you to do most of those things except the affiliate $$ bit. (The widget maker gets the $$ for the sale.)

Installing a widget of any kind is an easy task. Most “good” widget makers have install instructions. If not, it’s usually just a matter of copying the widget code and installing into your HTML code. Remember, you need to put it into the code exactly where you want it displayed. This may seem above you, at first, but use some common sense and your ability to read and some trial and error and you will nail it. Your first widget is the hardest. After that it’s all downhill.
