GeeSee Chat widget

GeeSee.com recently opened their service for use. Chat. Chat widget on your blog. I’ve tried it and I like it. I’m not much of a chatter but it is fun if you can avoid the downer users.

This is cool!
1. Simple: GeeSee is very easy to use. There are no technical things that you need to know other than your email address.
2. Design: The chat window and the whole widget are attractive.

This is OK!
1. Javascript: This is a Javascript widget. This limits where GeeSee can be placed. (sorry MySpace users)
2. Registration: You have to register for the widget. You also have to create a user account in order to chat. This is easy as they don’t ask for phone numbers or finger prints. Just a name, email address and a password.

This is a bummer!
1. Customizations: There are no customizations. No size options. No color options. No options! Not to say there won’t be in the future. If GeeSee becomes as popular as I think, the custom options will follow.
2. Chatting: When your visitors are chatting in your GeeSee widget they can’t leave your site. Using a tabbed browser they can go to other sites but then miss out on the chat. What I’m trying to get at is there needs to be a “pop out” option similar to Streampad widget.
3. Chatting(part 2): There are no options to block or censor users. I don’t like censorship! but certain users can ruin a good multi threaded chat. I think other users should be able to “vote Digg style” to at least suppress the offender.

Overall I found GeeSee fun, maybe even a little addictive. I met some cool people on the TechCrunch chat last night. Including Vplyr who is vplyr.com (a video software site) I am going to attempt to incorporate GeeSee into Widgets Lab.com. Stay tuned.

This is cool but I would suggest the link I have posted up there as my URI: http://www.matrixconnects.com. With Matrix you need no code or need to include no widgets whatsoever. Check out the URI and the For Webmasters section(link in the footer). And yes I developed Matrix and yes I want to publicize it!!! :-D
