Evoca. Voice comments on your blog.

Evoca.com is a service that allows you to easily put your voice on your blog. Evoca also lets your readers leave comments on your blog. Audio comments are a cool way to spice up your users experience.
Evoca allows your readers to record an audio comment via a little sidebar widget. Blog owners are then notified via email that they have a new comment. You are then given an HTML link to the comment so you can let other readers listen if you want. This allows you to moderate your audio comments.
Evoca is also acts as an audio sticky note. What this means is that you can leave yourself audio notes via your phone. This is great if you need to remember to research something when you are away from your computer.
This is cool!
1. Free: The basic Evoca service is Free. This allows for 60 minutes of recorded audio. Paid services start at $4.99 a month for an additional 200 minutes.
2. Community: There is a community built around this service. This gives it a very Web2.0 feel.
3. Flash: This is a Flash based widget. This makes it friendly with most major blogging tools. (Happy MySpace users)
This is OK!
1. Service: This service is still very new. There may be bugs, but don’t be discouraged, it’s still cool!
2. Registration: You have to register. An account needs to be associated with a user to make this service work.
3. Colors/Sizes: The colors are relatively neutral, so they should blend OK with most blog themes. The vertical widget is 220px wide. This should allow it to fit into most blog sidebars.
This is a bummer!
1. Registration: You need to supply your phone number, even if you don’t plan on using the personal recording service(sticky)
2. Color/Size: There are no color or size customizations available. You’re stuck using their choices.
Summary:
I think voice commenting is beginning to be a popular option to the standard text comments. I do believe, however that, like Podcasting, audio commenting will shortly be eclipsed by video commenting. A service like Evoca would be wise to be investigating and implementing a video commenting service asap.

I don’t have a mic with me so I can’t leave a voice comment. Sorry! Evoca is very cool, I agree. I think you have to enter a phone number so you can also phone in to Evoca and hear your messages. It is a true virtual voicemail system.
