Askville.com is in limited beta (Invite only) I have 25 invites. Leave a comment if you would like one.
The first thing I did not like about askville was the “cell phone sign-up” In order to use this service you need to supply your mobile phone number so they can send you a text message to confirm you as a user. They explain why, in detail on the site.
Askville.com at first looks like any other “answer site” and some parts of it are the same as any other “answer site”. Once you get into askville and start asking/answering this is when you start to discover how cool this actually is.
For your asking/answering you get to use a really nice Rich Text Editor similar to some blog text editors. The best part, from my point of view, is the ability to add widgets to your answer. There are only three widgets available at this point.
You can add a Map widget displaying locations that you choose.
There is an Amazon.com Product widget. (useful?)
And you can embed a video of your choice from YouTube or Google video or…..
I plan on trying this service a bit more. Then continuing this review.

Derek,
Even though it’s not invite-only at this point, I’d still like to invite you to try out Yedda.
I think that you will find it quite different from what you refer to as “other answer site”.
Naturally, you will find on Yedda the Rich Text Editor (pioneered by Yedda, with no limits on text length) and the ability to add images, videos, links, formatting. You will also find on Yedda the tags-based approach to categorization together with the automatic tag suggestion (also pioneered by Yedda).
You might also be interested in checking out the Yedda active question distribution mechanism, which substantially increases the amount and quality of answers for each asked question.
We also offer some interesting services to bloggers – you can add your Yedda profile directly to your blog using the Yedda Profile Widget, or allow your blog readers to ask questions about your blog topics through the Yedda Ask widget, or add fresh, context-sensitive FAQ to your blog using the Yedda FAQ widget. For more info, take a look at http://yedda.com/widgets.
Yes Please send me an invite. Thank You!
