Bumpzee.com Is this MyBlogLog plus BumpBox?

by Derek Anderson Stumble this! February 06th 2007

Bumpzee.com appears to offer a widget that allows a similar function to the MyBlogLog community. At least in the “Who visits my page” respect.

Seems they also have a BumpBox/Digg style voting widget that can be applied to posts.

I have not tried out this service and am reluctant to do so. Just because of the name of the community.

Affiliate Marketing Community

This instantly makes me think of spam, pop-ups and adware. Not very inspiring! Perhaps if I hear from the Bumpzee creators, I may come away with a different idea. But for now…

  3. Hi Derek.

    Thanks for the mention.

I guess you could say that it’s MBL + bumpbox. I’d say it’s that and more. The idea is all around a tight community, in this case affiliate marketers. MBL is broad. not sure about bumpbox. never seen it until now.

With Bumpzee, we’re developing a community platform. The first community happens to be affiliate marketers, because I am one. We’ll add more.

Is it “affiliate marketing” that makes you think of spam, pop-ups, and adware? While we have some of those bad apples, most affilaite marketers aren’t like that.

Affiliate marketers earn money by referring people to products and service and get paid only on a conversion. You’ve got adsense on here. It’s not much different except you’re letting google decide what to show and you’re getting paid for a click.
Lots of spammers push adsense too. Doesn’t make you one.

  4. As with anything, there is a fringe of rogues in affiliate marketing.

They don’t represent the indsutry by any means.

It’s a very diverse area with affiliates using contextual ads (like that ones you are running below), video, RSS, Web Services, blogs and a variety of other tools and methods.

  5. Wow, talk about bad marketing. I agree, when I see anything regarding “affiliate marketing”, right away I start to think of late night eBay infomercials.

Interesting concept, I’d like to how they compare to the service we offer; although the majority of users right now seem to be affiliate marketing bloggers. Fills a niche, perhaps?

    Good find.

  6. I believe bumpzee can host many communities after testing (see the front page http://www.bumpzee.com):

“BUMPZee! is a platform designed for hosting online communities. It’s brand new and currently hosting one community.”

I believe the affiliate marketing community is just a test run of their first community.
