What a fantastic and easy way to promote your auctions or Ebay fund raisers on your blog! The set-up for this widget is very simple to figure out. There are no technical hurdles for noobies to worry about.
There are three widget styles to choose from.
1. One item (displayed)
2. multi item of your choice.
3. thumbnail search based on your keyword.
This is flash based widgetry. It goes wherever you want…including MySpace.
flurry.com allows you to simply put a small widget on your blog that allows readers to subscribe to your feed via their mobile phone/device.
I’m surprised that I haven’t seen this earlier!
There are two widget options:
…and
This appears to be very simple and straight forward…however, in order to receive these RSS feeds you will need to sign up with flurry and put their application on your phone. Flurry also requires that you purchase a “monthly plan”.
This makes it less likely that you will have readers that make use of this widget.
I know you are just dying to let your visitors know what time it is. Even if they are on the other side of the globe…they can enjoy your cool taste in embeddable clocks.
ClockLink.com provides many styles to choose from. All styles allow for time zone changes and most allow for different color and size options.
These are flash widgets. You can put them on MySpace if you want. (unless blocked by MySpace) The flash code should be easily editable for a custom size.
Remember to backup your template before you rip into it!
I kept seeing people write about Call Wave’s SMS widget for sending text messages from your computer to someones phone. I wanted to see how to add it to the blog.
This Gadget says you can send SMS messages worldwide. The widget comes from Upside Wireless.com Here is the link to the actual Worldwide SMS gadget. This does require registration and purchase.
This is SMSalias. Purchase some SMS credit and start messaging! (I guess)
If you decide to use Call Wave (because it says it’s FREE) you almost have to hook it up with the English to Yoda speak converter. What awesome fun this will be. Especially when messaging those with a broken sense of humor.
“For messaging will what awesome fun this be. Yes, hmmm”
This is a Blinkx video wall widget. It displays video thumbnails based on a keyword search. You can place it anywhere…even MySpace (until Blinkx gets blocked)
The default size widget is really to big for anything other than putting it into a post. (unless you have 640px wide side bars) I had to edit the code a bit to make it fit better. I have reduced the width to 300px to make things more manageable.
The video wall is viral. It lets you grab the embed code right from the widget and you even get to choose the layout size right there. The widget also contains a link to Blinkx to get your own widget created from your search results.
I am trying out the new JS-Kit ratings and comments widget.
I will need your help to try it out…Please leave comments and replies to comments (yes you can reply to specific comments)
…Also, please feel free to try out the rating widget as well.
(They can be separated with text if you desire.)
(as you leave comments you can be notified of replies via email)
There are actually two widgets in one. You can use one or the other or both. They are very simple to use and there is no registration required.
Check out the many customization options. Including custom CSS and different input fields.
Here is a simple, no frills, easy to use website counter widget. Just copy and paste…thats it.
Where can I get it? …Where can I use it? bpopular.com
You can use this anywhere you can edit template code…even on MySpace! (until they block displaying images and linking to other sites.)
Does it do anything else?
The widget also acts as a link to the bpopular stats page for your site. Here you will find site stats for at least the last Six days displayed in a simple bar graph. You will also see the 20 most popular pages on your site. Stats are public!
Ok…How much does it cost?
Come on…it’s FREE! and you don’t even have to register…not even an email address!
But I don’t want the stats displayed right on my blog.
You don’t have to. There are four size options…regular, small, very small and invisible.
Here you go Sudoku fans…a new Sudoku puzzle everyday for your blog. (Uses Iframe…sorry MySpace users)
Don’t you just love number puzzles? I can remember saying “boy… I wish I had more number puzzles!” right after Math class even.
Where can I get it? Sudokuoftheday.com
There is no registration needed! But I’m sure they wouldn’t mind a dollar donation…at least to help pay for the server. If you don’t like to donate…buy a mug or t-shirt.
Are there options?
Of course there are…any good widget has options.
The “Sudoku of the day” widget comes in two sizes. Regular at 260px wide and mini at 150px wide. I like the 150px option because most sidebars are 150px or wider.
What about colors?
There are no point and click color options. To change you will need to edit the code and replace “Aliceblue” with a color of your choice. Don’t worry or fret here…they give you easy to follow instructions and a large color list to browse.
GlassGiant.com has a bunch of cool tools for customizing your blog or profile pages. Ranging from glitter graphics to Dog Tags.
These tools are very simple to use… and produce nice images for your use. I tried out the “Snow Globe” but the results were lame. You don’t get code to embed your snow globe like you do at Pyzam.com
If you sign up to GlassGiant they will even host the images for you. (so they say)

Would you like to know how many people are on your site in real time?
whos.amung.us serves up a simple HTML code that allows you to see site visitors in real time.
Here is what the code looks like…
<a href="http://whos.amung.us/show/qsyphggi"><img src="http://whos.amung.us/widget/qsyphggi" alt="website counter" width="81" height="29" border="0" /></a>
But you’ll need to grab your own…as each code is different.
Ming at StickiWidgets pointed this out to me…Thank you!
