sanebull.com– Stock Market widgets

sanebull.com has created four attractive stock tracking widgets for blogs.

If you are into the stock market you know how difficult it is to find a good quality stock tracking widget for a blog. Yahoo supposedly has one and I have managed to find it in the past but it’s damn near impossible to easily locate. I think there should be a huge flashing banner that screams…

Stock Market widget here

…anyhow, sanebull.com is a project of the ideajax.com group. A small snippet from the ideajax.com site.

Welcome to the new web. We are a small team of consultants on a mission to improve usability of the web. We are proud to be a player in the emerging world of the new internet technologies.

Whats it made of?
These widgets use iframe attributes that sometimes don’t get along too well on this blog. I think it’s because of too many other widgets here. Otherwise I have never had a problem with iframe. I do know that sanebull claims that these widgets will work on MySpace…but I have never had any luck placing iframes on MySpace. So I think they should look into this and make sure to let their potential users know one way or the other.

Other widgets
Here are a couple of the other widgets. Each one features a bit less information due to the size constraints. They are however still effective and attractive.

Edit stock info
Each widget is editable via the code. You need to go into the widget code and replace the existing stock symbol with the symbol of your choice. You can also edit the amount of time before refresh. The sanebull site goes into more detail on how to do this. I have looked at it and I believe anyone can do it.

Display your portfolio!
sanebull allows you to become a registered member. This allows you to display your portfolio in the fourth widget. I don’t know how much info is displayed and what is relevant or not…I don’t trade stocks. But based on what I have seen so far I would assume that it is a decent offering and worth while checking into.

An outside opinion?

I would like to get my friend Howard Lindzon to take a look at these and give his opinion.

Howard?…

  1. Cool widgets. I recently created a similar widget which is available at Widgetbox.com as LiveStockChart. It allows the user to enter a ticker symbol and the chart will update every 30 seconds while US markets are open. I just submitted to Google Gadgets but it hasn’t made it into the directory yet.

I am hunting for a widget which will simply scroll selected stock symbols horizontally across the screen. Just a plain jane stock ticker, small height and about 800 px long.. I have been constantly hunting for 2 days.. does anyone know of a free one?
