Spotplex.com offers much more than just a “popular posts” widget. They have an entire site devoted to ‘Whats Hot!”.
Listing the hottest posts (based on number of reads) over the last… 24 hrs. This is very Digg like in many ways except there isn’t a chance of getting on the front page of Digg unless you own Digg and can decide who appears there.
Spotplex uses a set of super secret algorithms to determine post popularity based on number of reads per post.
Put in Spotplex terms:
…you can find what is the hot news today, this week, or this month in real time at Spotplex. This is not a list of articles people recommended or voted for, but a list of articles read most in a given timeframe.
I love this widget!
How can I not love it? It shares my popular posts with my readers (you). Enticing you to stay longer and click more (no adsense here) and it promotes my content on another site (spotplex.com). This will bring more people to WidgetsLab! Of course I love it!
What I know
This is a JavaScript widget. What you see is what you get. There are no appearance mods for this widget. The way you see it in the thumbnail or in my sidebar is what you get.
Sometimes the numbers appear to go down. This is because time always happens. So readers drop off and new ones are added. This is normal, so don’t freak out.

No link to this widget here? The Spotplec site is down now… bummer. This sounded perfect. Got a substitute?
