madKast.com (a nurtured start-up from techstars.org) has recently released an awesome bookmarking and sharing widget to aid in the viral distribution of your blog and also to give you insight into the habits of your readers. (This is a free tool for use by any and all blog publishers.)

Share where?
madKast is a beefed up addthis.com. They both make sharing your content very easy. However, madKast facilitates sharing through email and mobile MMS as well as any number of social bookmarking sites. You can add this to your blog with a simple one click install for Blogger and Typepad. You can also grab the JavaScript code and place it on your WordPress blog and others that allow JavaScript.

Analytics
The strength of madKast really lies in the analytics provided to the blog master. When people use this widget you get to know what posts they are sharing and what site they visit. (no personal info is shared) This is excellent information that allows you to gauge what exactly your readers are looking for. Putting you in a position to deliver that content on your blog instead of them having to go elsewhere.

I might use this
You’ll notice the little ‘addthis’ bookmark button at the bottom of this post. That may disappear in favor of this madKast widget. We’ll see what happens through the trial.

Thanks for your kind words about madKast! We’d love to try it out on your blog as we’re convinced it provides significantly more value that other services like share this. Keep in mind, we are a young company, and analytics information won’t be available for at least a few more weeks.

In the mean time, I hope you consider installing it and providing with any and all feedback you can.

We’re here to make your madKast experience as good as possible.

I’ll be interested in your opinion of this. It sounds great, and I happily added it — but it slowed my blog loading considerably. So, for the moment, it’s gone.

I’ll keep an eye on it though, in hopes I can put in back in the future.
