Contest widget from ThePisstakers.com

Thats right…ThePissTakers.com …and no…they do not guarantee a clean UA. But they do have an excellent idea behind the contest widget.

If you like contests and you like having them on your blog then this widget is right for you. The widget lists one contest per page refresh. So it may take you a few to get through all the contests. They have a convenient link on the widget homepage to add your own contest.

My opinion
The widget is JavaScript which limits where it can be displayed. There are no customization options. The widget is designed to auto-fill the area it is installed into. So if you want to put it into a post you will have to wrap the code with a size limiting (table width=”**”)tag. Check out w3schools for more info.

Thanks for the shout out and the critique. Much appreciated.

I am looking into adding a scrolling option to help the contest addicts get a quicker fix.

As regards tweaking options: We hope the widget will predominantly be installed in sidebars, and based on some of the questions I received prior to releasing it, we thought it would be better to have the basic tweaking set to automatic! – ie the widget auto-sizes itself to your sidebar and the text area adopts your site’s theme without any need for adjustments.

Of course I love the orange and blue header, but it isnt everyone’s cup of tea, so I will look into the possibilities for offering some choice.

Thanks again, it is still early days, but with input from experts like yourselves, it could be good enough to reach a few sidebars near you.

    cheers
