OnTour is a simple as search web service to keep track on your favorite bands concert tours so you can know when/if they are coming to your home town. Something truly useful, no need to go around to each band tour list, when they can be all around in one place.
But they did not only offer the site service, now you can take it to your blog or to your desktop, in a way we wish other developers would do, they are offering a unified version of their widget that even if at the moment don`t has customization, they truly compensate it by offering their widget in a pocket size and in flash, so you can put it in Myspace, any social network or pretty much as i have said before, it makes it a everywhere widget.
the functions are to display your favorite band tour dates lists and the service recommended list, with the added value of it being able to search a band directly from the widget too.
So, you can adjust the settings and place it anywhere in the web you want, it also serves the purpose of being a social awareness widget, because you can pretty much point what you are REALLY into, since most that anything, the bands you desire to see live multiple times, are always your favorites band for real, beyond just simple “i Like”, so that could make it a attractive factor beyond function.
There are 4 desktop versions going for Windows with a yahoo widget engine for XP, and a Sidebar Gadget version for Windows Vista to Mac non native (yahoo) and native versions.
I really don`t got any complain for the widget besides more customization options. So there is really no way for not to try it and have a look if it pokes your interest.
