Weatherlet.com weather widget is a cool looking 3D display of current conditions and a 5 day outlook.
Each day’s forecast also acts as a link to a more detailed forecast. As of the writing of this post I haven’t been able to access the more detailed weather information. But I do know it’s there because i have seen it earlier this month.
Appearance
All this information is presented in a slowly revolving display that shows depth. I think it’s cool! 3D is very underutilized on the Internet and especially in the widgetsphere.
Customizations
There are no options other than inputing your desired zip code. This is a Flash widget which opens up more placement options. Should be Mysapce friendly and I’ll tag and categorize it as such.
Opinion
Yes this is a cool widget with a 3d aspect. However, your readers really don’t care too much what the weather is like in your neighborhood (unless they live next door) I would at least like to see the ability to check my weather in my area without leaving the current page. Some weather animations might be a cool addition as well. Such as lightning, thunder, wind or even snow. (did i say snow?)
It’s still a decent start though. But I think in order to go mainstream, more unique features need to be incorporated into this widget.

Is there any way to just get the html code? I would really like to have this revovling weather widget, but am having trouble getting it when it says “copied to your clipboard”. Could you email me the html code? Thks!
I’m having the same problems with weatherlet… When you click on Copy code it will tell you “copied to your clipboard” but the clipboard is empty and has not copied anything.
umm. weird. but you could always copy the code yourself in order to solve this.
Is is having problems, sometimes it gives the current weather but most of the times it is undefined?? What’s going on?
This widget is nice… better then most. However, it 1) does not update its graphic frequently enough or automatically – only on page refresh or mouse-over 2)the weather icons are lacking – always a sun or sun/cloud combo…how about a MOON to indicate night weather? (for goodness sakes – I have seen many other weather feeds differentiate between night and day) 3) how about other options for forecasts – like a simple 2 or 3 day forecast without the 3D spinning/orbiting
Hi,
I know that this is a very late post, but I have found something that fits Gordon’s requirements. It’s called the Weather Widget and it’s a free flash widget I accidentally discovered. I could even change the images used to display different weather patterns, and it allows you to chose the default location, see the forecast for the next 7 days, Celsius/Fahrenheit converter and it looks cool too.
Just thought I’d share this with the web – if interested http://www.flashxml.net/weather-widget.html
