Romlet.com Brag Badge

Romlet.com has an interesting widget that basically shows the sites that link to the blog or site that the widget is installed on.

The referring sites are depicted by their corresponding Favicon. The little icon usually associated with a bookmark, favorite or even the URL up in the address bar in your internet browser. These Favicons found in the widget also act as links to the referring site. This is a nice, quick way to add a bunch of reciprocal links back to sites that are linking to you.

Customizing
You are allowed to edit the width and title as well as the amount of referrers displayed int the widget. You can also choose outer and inner background colors and the color of the title text. This is a fair amount of customizing options that should allow you to easily blend the widget into your site or blog.

Opinion
Unfortunately this is a two part JavaScript copy and paste. this makes it a bit difficult for many in-experienced bloggers to install. I think a more detailed walk through would really help out some of the noobies that could really benefit from this widget. That is my only complaint! Thanks for making a great widget.

Ilker on the Thinking Blog has written about the Romlet.com widget with a bit of a different perspective. I like her thinking about linking!

Thanks for the feedback and review! We are still considering ease-of-use issues and really appreciate user comments and other evaluations. Thanks also for pointing out how customizable the widget is: that has been a key consideration from the start!

  2. Glad to point out the custom options. I am very happy to see that widget makers are taking these user customizations seriously. Keep up the great work!
