Send your mobile photos and videos directly to a widget on your blog!
Now this is a really cool widget idea that I have been wanting to see implemented. I don’t take many photos from my mobile phone because dealing with them after taking them is somewhat lame. I just wanted to send them directly to my blog to share with the readers. I know that I’m not the only person that wants to do this. My friend Tim Post was recently looking for this same ability.
Here comes PXspot.com
Pxspot.com claims to make mobile uploading of your photos a snap. (thats what I read into it) These photos and videos can be displayed in an album (public or private) You can also select multiple friends to notify via email that you have added images or video to an album. There’s also a widget for your website.
The widget
The best part (in my eyes) is of course the widget. This is a basic slide show type widget, but with many options. First off, it’s a fully customizable widget. You can edit the height and width with simple slide selectors. There is a custom title and you can choose which album displays in the widget as well. There are nine (9) different photo transitions to choose from. Both fade in and fade out choices. You also get to select the amount of delay time in between images. There is a fully custom color background option including the ability to make the background as transparent as you desire.
I’m having difficulties
PXspot may be new and therefore still a bit buggy and hopefully this explains why my images aren’t being displayed in the widget. You can still click on them and be taken to another page that still displays the ?. There you can click on “View Full Size” at or near the top of the page and be taken to the actual photo. Now obviously this isn’t the way it is supposed to work. It may be that I have made an errant selection somewhere and the developer will be along shortly to help. (I’ll update when that happens)
I will say that the user interface at PXspot.com could be a bit easier. It took me a bit just to find the widget setup. (You have to click in the administrator interface)
PXspot has been updated and seems to work flawlessly!
I have been in contact with the developers and they have addresses some issues and answered some of my questions.
PXspot will handle photos with these extensions:
-

PXspot will handle videos with these extensions:

Now you know the power of PXspot
