Bluestring comes from AOL and is one of the companies that were profiled in the Techcrunch40 event and their service focus in saving and sharing content from a more social and active angle that what you expect from similar offerings like Divshare. they offer the service in a FLEX powered interface and the idea is to save your files into one place and be able to share them out in a social way with ease.
It is not groundbreaking but execution and specific branding of an idea always come a long way in the end, however i must say that they got too much into using Flex in a way i really don’t know what could not have been done in Ajax for example but their reasons will they have.
And the relevant part to us is that there is a embedable player to embed and share around, it works in a lineal way: you put the files you want to share and the services creates a slideshow with them ordered in line, if you add photos, audio clips, video and some compatible files they will render in the slideshow and you can even add a background soundtrack to it, but don´t take my word for it, i will show you the player i snatched from the techcrunch entry:
It is worth talking about it because it is a more focused option that using the widget from a back up service. The whole focus of the service is exactly sharing and they have built a friend interface and option to do just that. So if it were a game it would have been rated E (for everyone).
