Amnesty Widgets Hypercube for Facebook

by Avatar Stumble this! October 19th 2007

AW

Amnesty Widgets, the web to desktop widget importing startup i wrote about over a month ago just launched a version  Hypercube for Facebook that takes on the idea i discussed while having a look on widgets in the facebook platform:

"do widgets can get to fit or belong into Facebook? of course they do, and no i am not contradicting myself.  they do belong in Facebook, but not in the way they are now, triying to pas for Facebook App.  that is the ridiculous part, they belong in something i just started to see both as concept and one in practice: A facebook Widget Launcher App.

Why would i install widget by widget, go from App to App to see my widget one by one if i can have a Widget Launcher App just like in a cellphone and Smartphones and get as many as i need in one place inside FAcebook that do not need to be forced to interact socially beyond the actual App integration with Facebook own platform.

I think that would be the right way to truly enter Facebook with widgets and be able to truly enjoy them in the same way you do in a blog, in a start page, etc, etc.

now the true question is not how or who, but when we will start to seeing this."

I must say i am surprised it was done so fast and also by from who it came from, something that i see as a perfect fit considering what Amnesty Widgets focus is.

It was a bad timing that even if i recieved the news before anyone else i could not post it that day but i am very glad that Danny Espinoza, President of Amnesty gave me a personal heads up and message i will paste it here because i think does a better job explaining things faster, i hope danny don´t mind:

Hi Avatar,

I’ve been meaning to get in touch with you since your write-up of our company on Widgets Lab; I really think you captured the essence of our position in the market, which is to provide services that make widgets easier to use for consumers (as opposed to developers).

You recently mentioned in another post (Widgets Economy In Facebook) how Facebook needs a widget launcher app and I’m writing to let you know that Mesa Dynamics is releasing just such a solution today.

It’s called Amnesty Hypercube for Facebook and it’s an extension of our desktop platform that allows Facebook users to collect and share web widgets in one place.  The release is a first step in our goal of unifying the web widget space via Hypercube: connecting web destinations, such as Facebook with desktops environments, such as Dashboard and Sidebar.  I’ve attached the press release below.

Best,

Danny

Mesa Dynamics

So, thanks a lot Danny, and very glad to see that you read the blog too and like what i post,Amnesty also issued a press release that  all of you may or may not have seen already, so lets take a look:

Mesa Dynamics Releases Universal Web Widget Application For Facebook

Washington, DC – October 10, 2007 – Mesa Dynamics announced today the release of Amnesty Hypercube for Facebook, an application for Facebook that extends the reach of the company’s universal platform for web widgets to the popular social network.

Amnesty Hypercube opens the vast and growing web widget world to the everyday user by providing a universal platform for managing web widgets, mini-applications designed to be embedded into home pages and blogs. Using Amnesty Hypercube, Facebook users can collect web widgets, flash games and embeddable video in one place and share them with friends in their network. The application also the company’s exclusive web widget provider directory, which conveniently lists and categorizes links to dozens of web sites that make web widgets available to the public.

The Facebook application is designed to integrate with a forthcoming release of the company’s desktop version of Amnesty Hypercube, a downloadable desktop platform that is currently available in a preview release for Windows XP, Vista and Mac OS X. The desktop platform will automatically synchronize with a user’s Facebook account so that widgets added to Facebook will be available for use on the desktop and widgets added to the desktop platform will be accessible from inside Facebook.

Amnesty Hypercube for Facebook is available immediately for installation at http://apps.facebook.com/hypercube or from the Mesa Dynamics Amnesty product home page (www.amnestywidgets.com).

So there you go, now there is pretty much no question about it when it comes to the matter of a good way to birng Widgets to Facebook or if they do belong there, Amenesty Widgets has pulled it of, and i look forward to seeing it evolve, i will revisit it in one month or so to make a better review of it.
