The pre-conference has already begun on Backnetwork. Speakers, participants, pundits and extended widget community are already together, connecting and sparking off each other at http://wg07.backnetwork.com/. Widgety bloggers can contact me for a special invitation to join if they can't make it to the big event itself (infact you might jag a freebie to the conference if you can offer some good reasons why). The network will continue for 12 whole fruitful months after 6 December. Hope to see / hear from everyone who can make it to the network and/or the conference in Brighton (just 30 mins from Gatwick and one of the most fun, digital places in Europe right now). Bestest - libby@authenticblogging.com (WGUK07 Social Network Facilitator). Please tag posts and flickr photos about the conference WGUK07 to be aggregated and shared with the whole network.

I guess in a near future someone will come out with a solution for all the issues surrounding the widgetification. Distributors will set some rules like maximum and minimum dimensions and file sizes, and will fix many of the gaps they currently have thanks to the feedback they will be collecting from different sources; we will see more widgetized mash-ups an other creative stuff mixed up with the usual not-so creative clocks, countdowns, etcetera as there would be many developers joining the field that would need to start somehow...
The mash-ups will be related to APIs from the different social networks, specially from Facebook which has been the flagship since the past few months and followed by other big social networks.
Monetization will continue being a problem, as the big widgets distributors will monetize more and more not taking into account the developers as these grow day after day until small distributors will offer better rewards to the developers and the situation will balance.
There will be some issues with accessibility and some organism will have to take control and set up more rules.
Widgety Goodness 2nd edition (in November 2008) will last for a whole weekend and will be hosted in the same nice & beautiful city of Brighton...

did I get the ticket? :D
