Advertise your blog via an ad. Pay for with credits you have earned

Entrecard.com is a new entry into the blog/personal promotion arena. Shoemoney interviewed Entrecard CEO Graham Langdon at the Blogworld expo.
Here’s the video interview that sums up the service:
The Entrecard widget is a ‘SmartLink’ image ad. It utilizes JavaScript and a cookie (assumption) to record you ‘Dropping’ your business card at various blogs that have the widget. The widget also features your custom 125×125 px image that should be linked to your blog or whatever site you are promoting. Each ad (card) placement lasts 24 hours. Then the next ad in line is displayed for another 24 hours. I wonder…during maintenance times (all websites have these) are you credited for time lost during the maintenance?
The widget set up is easy… but may take for granted that most people possess common sense. I have viewed some of the cards in the network and have followed links to them to see their placement of the Entrecard widget. Some blogs have no visible widget, yet are part of the network. I even found one that entered their feed address instead of the blog URL. That was pretty much useless.
Useful for promoting your blog! Hopefully it doesn’t get all gummed up with spam or run into the huge backlash that BlogRush received.

Yes, another widget that tracks your movement from site to site. 2007 blog scene, specially the ones that talk about making money, resembles 1998’s porn site scene. However, this time we have ajax, widgets, and videos. Large sites promote traffic exchange methods and all the smaller ones fall for it but eventually it only benefits larger sites without any effort and a few smaller sites that put a lot of efforts. Wonderful system. History repeats itslef.

You have valid arguments. This is still new and interesting enough to me that I’ll continue to play with it until I see the lack of benefit. At which time, I’ll be gone!
