Google Desktop starting Integrated Cross-Platform Support for Gadgets

Google Desktop for the mac has been updated with integrated cross platform support so you can have Google Gadgets running along Apple Widget directly in the Dashboard, not all widgets are cross platform right now, but most of the relevant ones are already supported so it can be tested right away.

This was a natural progression as i talked about it in my yahoo widget engine post. but i added the word “starting” to the title of the post because even so Google desktop exists for XP and Vista, vista users do not need it because they got the Sidebar, so the same treatment must be done so Google Gadgets are supported inside the Vista Sidebar and not only in the Google desktop sidebar. so until that happens, no one can call it truly cross-platform.

I am not surprised they started supporting Mac first, that is to be expected with Google, but lets see how much time they take to support vista sidebar or if they are gonna continue to play hardball and only offer their replacement to it, something that even if bold, would be stupid from a company that is gloating lately about being able to work well with competitors.
