Like most long time PC users i love to change around my wallpaper constantly,some times out of boredom, other because of a certain mood,etc. if you know what i mean and identify then you will be glad to know that there is now a pretty handy Vista Sidebar Gadget to do just that.
This Gadget will allow you to preview and select a batch of wallpapers you can set to change in a automatic or manual fashion. it also offers more option for you to set you wallpaper just like you want it to be.
The idea is very simple and yet thanks to the execution of the gadget, you will wish the features would have been in the MS Slideshow Gadget from the let go.

A future iteration of the gadget will allow for a full Dreamscene like Features, i will update the post when that happens
*UPDATE 05/10/08* For some reason the link turned dead and now is no longer on Live Gallery. i have updated the link to a Softpedia Link. i have also saved the gadget just in case it suddenly dissapears and it needs to be hosted elsewhere. thanks for those that wrote me bringing the broken link to my attention.Â

the widget works a treat but how do i get it to change the windows wallpaper instead of the usual 1′s shipped with vista

Very awesome! Any idea why it’s not on live gallery anymore? Seems like this should be a pretty popular one.
@pougan: i don`t know for sure. it may have been because either the developer took it down for some reason or because live gallery took it down because the app was supposed to be in active development and didn`t got updated in six months. the other one is if someone had reported something wrong with the gadget. but i think it may have been the two first cases. if it had ben the third one it would be already known by now.

Very good work, been using it for the last month with joy. Found one small glitch, even though I choose the option “centre” or “Current Windows Setting”, the gadgets always keeps the “Mantain Aspect ratio” option… a liitle fix in the next version?
i am aware of that. and i am not sure the developer is even releasing a new version. but i will of course port a link to a new version or something alike if it ever comes up.

Don`t really matters. in Windows 7 you will not need this gadget. the function to automate your wallpaper changing is built into the OS in various ways.

Doesn’t work with Vista + IE8, but not a big deal, Windows 7 has the functionality already integrated.
Works for me with Vista Ultimate 32bit and IE8 but as stated by josh it does have a huge memory leak (got up to over 900 megs at one point). Seems to have started after SP2 was installed.
Other than that it’s a great problem.

Sorry for the stupid question but how do I install this? it is justa rar file, with a bunch files inside, none of them do anything. how do install it? thanks.
its not a rar file. it should be a.gadget file and if you got the windows sidebar enabled it should just pop up a “install gadget?” dialog confirmation in XP and install as it is in vista and 7.
