mediaFORGE:Desktop Widget InfoAds for Banner Ads

MediaFORGE is a agency with a evolutive proposal in the implementation of Banner Ads, Banner Ads that roll over a display is nothing new. but a Banner Ad that roll over a interactive widget that calls for  a page so you can install a InfoAD widget?.. that is another story.

The novelty in this comes from the refined metrics and the approach to spread info advertising in the browser and then extend it to the desktop.

MediaFORGe ads are banner ads done in flash and once you have been given a option to spread the widget to your desktop, you can choose a Mac OS X dashboard widget or a Windows Vista Sidebar Gadget option for it.   You can choose a Stand Alone Gadget for Windows or a AIR app for Mac OS x. (AIR is supposed t cross platform, so ignore if it also works in windows too )

There is still a small step to have with this kind of Widget Advertising and that is also to offer high Spread online in the same way Clearspring or Gigya Wildfire enables that option.

i am also thinking that this may be a good way to lessen Sociial Networks Flash burden by having roll over modules. so certain things and bling only activate when someone hovers them.

MediaFORGE is focused on flash but DoubleClick showed a Demo at mix on pretty much a variation of this for Silverlight. the advantage you have in silverlight is that you can optimize and customize everything at any moment and still count with engagement tracking. so i think this kind of online Ads are the future. Rich Online Advertising should hit mainstream this year thanks to the Olympics.

I have also seen a anti-blocking Widget Ads that will not let the page load if you got ad block. so lets see how far Widget Ads can go.

*update*: i stand corrected, they are not proper desktop widgets or gadget, more like Widget-apps. thanks to the ever vigilant Danny of Amnesty Widgets for correcting me.

  1. FYI, as far s I can tell, the desktop widget versions of MediaForge’s ads are not installable in Windows Sidebar or Apple Dashboard: the Windows version is a standalone app, and the Mac version is an Adobe AIR application.

  3. LOL - just trying to keep you honest, Avatar. Of course, MediaFORGE is always welcome to contact us directly if they have interest in a Dashboard solution that works smoothly in Tiger and Leopard. ;-)
