Xoopit is a relatively new service in the scene that solves a problem that everyone of us suffers in their E-mail Inbox. and that is the inability of browsing photos, videos and files in our inbox. xoopit allows you to do that. you got 3 ways to check out and browser your media in your inbox
- 1.- The Xoopit Service Site
- 2.-A Firefox extension that plugs into you E-mails so you can see the Xoopit Bar
- 3.-A iGoogle Gadget
While Xoopit solves a inherent problem in E-mail, it also causes a privacy concern because many have been wary of giving Xoopit their details. i consider it as dangerous as anytime you use a “invite friend” contact browser in any Social Network, but execution is what causes a elevated concern because users perceive that possible breach every time they have to use the Xoopit page.
Another reason why the top E-mails providers need a full API.
At this moment Xoopit is testing in the smallest provider as a way to test the service, so it only works for Gmail and Firefox respectively but they have hinted a future Yahoo and Hotmail integration so a IE plugin and Xoopit Widget versions for Yahoo and Live SHOULD appear when/if they ad support for them, if they are truly serious about having a usable service that can sustain and thrive.
The iGoogle Gadget is limited and you can only see the photos but the good thing about a web widget is that it can be updated at any moment., so if you are using Xoopit or are interested in it right now, it is obvious you have a Gmail account so it is also probable you use iGoogle as your start page.
If that is your case, you will find this gadget useful to you.
Xoopit is such a good idea, that i kinda already expect it to be integrated by the top E-mail providers no later than early next year. but while we wait that to happen, now you know you got a option today if you want.
