iGoogle to get Ads in June Update, ok, but how?

So iGoogle is getting Ads with its June big update that will have a canvas view instead of tabs, shareable gadgets, collaborative gadgets and may present some of the new social graph infused gadgets i have been wondering about . nothing strange in iGoogle getting Ads, that was totally expected. Google properties always get ads when they get popular enough in one way or another. that last part is what intrigues me. Gmail got Ads that display based on what they read in your E-mails and news ticker that flashes you with ads the same way. it is expected that iGoogle Ads should also be “special” in some way.

So the question is how do they get ads into iGoogle?. i got two ideas on how could that be so it would something they had not done yet in other properties:

  • 1.-Promo GadgetAd directory

Would make sense they got one, they already got a showcase for their promo GadgetAds. so why not offer a full separated directory for them too?

  • 2.-A Special GadgetAd in your iGoogle tabs that contextually changes based on what Gadgets you got in page.

They also could introduce a GadgetAd always present in your iGoogle serving GadgetAds or Adsense.

Those are the most logical ideas to me based on what i have seen Google do in terms of Gadgets and GadgetAds. lets remember that even if they get introduced for iGoogle, the GadgetAds could easily spread to the desktop too.

Or maybe they will recycle Gmail idea and add a “new sticker” at the top serving contextual link ads. that would be lame. so lets see how it goes.
