Plurk: microblogging in a interactive timeline

After Derek called me out to talk about Plurk i gave it a new look. at first i thought i would hate it. but i ended up liking the idea. i loved the idea of a interactive timeline representation while microblogging and that in the same way i could sort out the people i can follow, be friends with and such. the whole idea is a step up from twitter. but pretty much anything can be a step up from twitter that now even not only crashes but loses features while doing it so.

Plurk is very simple to use but its way of thinking is something out of things i have seen in photos with AOL circavie and with the not so old YouTube Timeline.

I also like the Plurk Widget. it is simple, yet well done for a first attempt. even if i am now starting to see with a little disdain at widgets that don`t got any kind of High Spread Sharing. but considering the age of Plurk, i think i can give them a break.

But i would like to see a more spreadable Widget for round two and i could like to see a version of the widget that imitated the timeline in the main site. now that would be a nice touch.

Plurk as a service is kinda like the mashup of many Twitter Derived Services/apps with a new posture on how microbloging could be better digested and tracked. i think it works. it also works that you are encouraged by using the service with good karma. something that makes you more noticeable and makes you a prominent member of the plurk community because of it and that everything you need to do can be done without transitions and in a manageable and attention efficient way. BIG props on that.

Pretty much the only thing i don`t like is the design look. i think that is truly terrible but that is the  part they can easily improve them most fast.

While Derek puts it already in terms of being a lifestreaming service. it is still not there. however it may already get there since it has been acquired by Pheltup.

And while i am not in the private beta yet. it pitches itself as:

“The Social network that tell you WHO is doing WHAT but WHY”

  • The Who should be a profile
  • The What should be a microblogging element
  • The Why should be a advanced lifestreaming element.

(because if that is not it, then it would really be incredible and out there)

So, while many where excited about Plurk. maybe we should be excited about Pheltup?.

If you want to add me in Plurk. i am already there in this page

*UPDATE* :P heltup is a hoax. i was told by 10 different people of it and there is actually a comment from  akan of the plurk team to emily chang on it:

Emily, official note here on behalf of Plurk.

We have NOT been acquired by Pheltup.  It appears they instigated this entire ruse with a fallacious tweet late yesterday which caught on like wildfire. However all indications point to Pheltup being a rather elaborate hoax amongst A-list twitterers; the crude and unwholesome name and the fact the domain pheltup.com was registered merely 10 days ago should evidence this. Would be appreciated if you could remove this piece or alternatively, please contact us directly to confirm this, if you so require.

Best

So i`ll be damned, they got me beause they got jodi church-wagner on it from who i first reported by. i make the update because if ther eis something i am proud of its of my fact checking. never late for the truth.

  1. I love Plurk and can’t wait to see what Pheltup is all about. I didn’t love Plurk at first, but like most people, I had gotten too used to twitter. Plurk is fun and entertaining in a way that twitter just is not. Thanks for the mention! :-)

Thanks for dropping by. I also like Plurk and that’s the reason precisely, why I’ve written some comments about this new microbloging tool.

Let’s see what the end users decide, in the days to come.

@TonNet: At least now we know it will stick around longer now that it has been acquired.
