NBA.com widgets and Web2.0

Richard MacManus and Read Write Web have created a new blog series called “Mainstream Web Watch”.

Richard says:

“Firstly, a personal note on why I’ve started Mainstream Web Watch. One of the things I’m most interested in these days is how new Web technologies are infiltrating regular non-techie industries. I think we geeks tend to lose ourselves in the Twitters and FriendFeeds of the world, perhaps overlooking what’s happening in the real world. So this series aims to put some balance into tech blogging :-)

The opening series highlights NBA.com and the various features onsite that relate to Web 2.0

I like the widget angle
I wanted to expand on Read Write Web’s concept by showcasing NBA.com’s 10 great widgets.

From player stats & video highlights to winning finishes & scoreboards. NBA.com widgets cover pretty much everything basketball.

These are high quality Flash widgets that are web friendly and socially acceptable (works on Myspace & Facebook)
Unfortunately there are no desktop versions for MS Vista, Yahoo! or Mac Dashboard.
