Access ,the company known for the Netfront Mobile Browser and the Netfront Browser Widget engine for mobiles launched and showed the Access Linux Platform. a PalmSource/ Access Technology derived Mobile OS for Smartphones and MID`s in the same vein of Android, LiMo OS, Ubuntu Mobile and others to come.
This Mobile OS looks to be the friendliest yet to develop for those in Linux, it counts with full Ubuntu support tools, full Java ME support and that can run native linux apps, gatner apps, palm os apps, and of course Java apps.
And if that was not enough it counts with a dedicated and native support for Access own Netfront Browser Widgets too. that sure clarifies the way it resembled the Yahoo Widget Engine to me back when i took a look at it not a long ago.
It becomes obvious this is one kick ass platform that right from the get go will have thousands upon thousands of applications right to go. beating by far whatever Android and the other linux mobile platform can get to offer and also beating the iphone and even windows mobile in terms of application wealth. this should be more that enough for it to win right?. no. not a chance. it got pretty much nothing of hype. it comes from access that is only truly big in Japan and it don`t has the kind of OEM, Carrier and Corporate backing pretty much ALL of its competitors got. even LiMo OS and Ubuntu Mobile got more backing that Access and that is saying something. sad but true. even then. lets hope it can be seen in some devices so it has it chance to be known. even me that i am more inclined to Windows Mobile. i must say i find Access Linux Platform impressive and the best developer based execution yet in Mobile Linux.
WAP Review got a more detailed look into it: Access Linux Platform

[...] I talked about it before. so no need for me to do a retake. i sustain that it think it is a worthy as the android platform. but it lacks the hype and the pull of android. so it may get to be big only in Asia and specifically in Japan. that is unless it gains a hold of Russia too. [...]
