WidSets: Nokia Mobile Web Widget Client

Widgets and the Widsets client have been around well over a year. i just never got to do a quick write up on it because i truly thought i had done it. it is one of those things that get messed up somehow along the line.
Widsets is pretty much that now in a very knowledgeable context could be seen as nokia version of the Yahoo Go 3.0 and Goojet. the only difference is that the platform and the service is older and that it is for nokia phones only. but that is quite a lot considering they have 40% of the mobile market in a world with 1.5 billion active phones.
The service works a content portal, the widsets client is the portal and you navigate icons in order to look for your widgets. once located, you just call it and it will launch from it. widgetized web at you hands. you go back and your back at the widsets client that is just a launcher interface connected to a library from where you can be served whatever widget you need. there are 4000+ widset widgets and they are just repetitions of the same widget container with different information. if you subscribe to a blog. unless that blog got a customized widset widget. each time you call the widset of a blog or other website you are loading the same widgets over and over with just the information changed in it.
This makes it also quite similar to Plusmo for the iphone where the same applies. While it may seem as a dated client because of Opera that is going to be offering pretty much the same thing packed with browser without the need of a client and services like goojet and yahoo GO 3.0.
But the widsets widget client is functional, content is easy to find from the library and it can be used right away without any difficulty at all. the evolution of the widsets client is of course widgets not needing the widsets client and being able to install like and application and being a little more powerful that the current interaction. this evolution is now present as the S60 widgets.
Now there are other choices present and the improving of the mobile web will make this client unneeded in the near future for everyone with a new phone. but for older phones and basic phones from nokia. widsets is the easiest and quickest choice to get widgets and focused mobile web content without complications since it can run in 300 phones and anyone that knows how to use a phone can use it.
