TouchWIZ UI Improving, Getting Into Most Samsung Phones.

February 24th, 2009

As WMC effects from the announcements have been digested and start rolling in phones. TouchWIZ, the Widget interface from Samsung that turned into a hit thanks to the Omnia devices is now going to be part of pretty much close to all samsung phones. it also had repercussions off Samsung as LG did their Flash UI that is now in their runaway hit LG Cookie that is pretty much sold everywhere.

But the touchWIZ UI is what caused that shift of Widget Based Today Screens in Mobile Phones and it resulted so successful that caused hackers to create their own version of it for non samsung phones. but it is clear from what it is known of the next touchflo that this trend is not going to slow down.

Embedr: Aggregate A Video Player Embed From Multiple Sources

February 24th, 2009

Video Aggregators are nothing new. neither is the video player embeds that aggregate from multiple sources. but that don’t means there are many truly good. the options are scarce and having options is good to choose the ones that appeal the better good looking for you.

The idea behind embedr is to be mostly a tool to archive just that: a way to select videos from different video networks and they do a playlist with them in a single embeddable player.

The video player embed you get is a cross of the vimeo video player design that pretty much now everyone uses and a ipod like frame with a coverflow video selector so you can get a visually rich and good looking experience. i am disappointed with the widget not having a proper high spread sharing module but at least it got some social bookmarking and code presentation feature.

That is pretty much it what the service and the widget does and is. the customization options are basic but they are good for better integration. a nice widget for those that rely on placing lots of video content in their blogs.

Flickr Flash Widget Amazes

February 18th, 2009
Roy has created a very appealing Flash based Flickr widget that displays your photo feed in a globe style format.

Move your pointer around the page close to the widget and the floating photo globe moves with you. Each thumbnail opens its corresponding Flickr page in a new tab.

Roy Tanck‘s Flick Widget requires Flash Player 9 or better.

(I utilized Roy’s Flickr feed here)

An excellent Flash widget that should easily integrate in any blog.

Roy also has a very cool WordPress Tag Cloud widget that displays your blogs tags in a similar structure. It was released in March 2008 and has generated alot of positive feedback.
