Yahoo Toolbar 8.0 and 2.0 Beta: Catching Up With The Times

June 22nd, 2009

Yahoo Toolbar 8.0 (IE) and 2.0 Beta (FireFox)  is out and its new. but if you suddenly feel invaded by a Deja Vu looking at this picture:

It is ok to be. you are not losing your mind. Yahoo Toolbar 8 is indeed familiar. The reason it is so familiar is because it shamelessly copies from IE8 WebSlices, Google Toolbar 8 and MSN Silverlight Toolbar. so there is not much to say about it for you if you are already a IE8 user. but i do give it to them: it looks great. so if you are a Yahoo Fan, you like Yahoo Widgets, this is a must. otherwise don’t bother  with it if you already have IE8 since you can get Yahoo Webslices and Accelerators and replace most of the Toolbar features. but if you are a Firefox user and you like Yahoo it  is worth checking it out. the same if you are in a machine with IE7 and you are not allowed to upgrade it but you are able to install stuff to it.

Yahoo TV Widgets Hands On

June 22nd, 2009

I bet you had forgotten about them. i almost did since i remember having posted on it way back in august of 2008. even with all the time that has passed. it looks like they are not here just yet but they are a lot closer.  they should debut this fall. only one year and half later than they first got attention.

Quite a Fumble considering that Sony Already shipped something and that it is very likely that Samsung will ship its own version of it for the Korean market as well as LG. even if both and  also Sony end up using Yahoo TV Widgets elsewhere.

But now can look and read a detailed experience on where the Yahoo TV Widgets experience is right now. as David Katzmaier from CNET got a Video Hands On and a extensive review of them.

A great article and i would say a must read since TV Widgets is a experience for the future if Yahoo and Intel have their way now that the change for Digital is already done and Broadband is finally almost everywhere. so better to be prepared now.

Goojet 2.0

June 19th, 2009

bandeau

It looks like Goojet turned 1 year old. i remember covering it exactly one year ago. it looks like it getting a lot better now that lots of Nokia Widsets users are pissed off looking for a alternative.

Goojet is pretty much the alternative to widsets. if you liked the old widsets and hate the new one you will probably will like Goojet.

More now that to celebrate their first anniversary  they released Goojet 2.0:

I got no real insight on what is truly new besides the look and that it must have a lot more mobile widgets than a year ago. but if goojet tells me more on that i will gladly update this post. but if you were looking for mobile widgets, they got them.

Guest Posts In Widgets Lab

June 19th, 2009

tmpC9

Not as often as the request of coverage, are the questions about if we let Guest Posts in Exchange of Link Backs. Thinking on that, just as with Sponsored Posts. We want to offer a solution to that question.

Yes, we are OK with Guest Posts In Widgets Lab.

We already had the nice Tom Sprows series of posts in How To Build A Widget from thinking it up to deploying it. a must read by the way.

So we want you to send your Guest Posts if you got something to share that goes along with these Guidelines:

1.-Opinion Pieces

Experience in Widget Development, Marketing or Advertising?. got something interesting to say or to recall?.  write it on.

2.-How To

Got insight on developing widgets or want to share what you consider should be a good practice while doing so?. Write it on

3.-Perspective

Got a Widget Startup (even if it is a one man band) and want to share your thoughts on this niche?. Write it on.

That is what can write about. the only restriction is that we reserve the right to edit it and that it should not pass from 1000 words for any reason.

In Exchange for it we offer the following:

1.-Link Back on the Top and Bottom of the Post as it is introduced(top) and disclosed(bottom)

2.-Your Link will get into a LinkRoll to be put in the sidebar of the blog

3.-Further Coverage will be taken in consideration based on a case by case scenario (a widget we like or find interesting, etc)

If interested just write to me about it:
