It could be said that 2009 was finally the year for Twitter to become mainstream and with that many changes came straight from them that were long long overdue. Starting with the Official Flash Widget and not that long ago with the additions of new Javascript Widgets.
So now you can finally get a proper Twitter Profile Widget in Javascript:
And the other change that came to twitter recently was a refocus to search and being “The pulse of the planet†(Twitter own words) for the web. So Twitter changed their homepage from a very reminiscent “Blogger Like†homepage to one in the style of a Search Engine. So they also got a semi-real time Twitter Search Widget:
Both widgets work exactly the same the only difference is that the search one will look for a open query as a word, phrase or #hashtag. And the profile one only looks for the query “from:username†to display only your personal twitter updates and has a little username picon (personal/photo icon) and username tag at the top. They also come with the very same options. So you can choose size and color for them and decide if you want results to be displayed in a loop or not. I find that a little bit disappointing, but twitter has always had the pretext of being “simple†and “minimalistic†to go by. So not much use to criticize them if they deliver just that.
Still a good thing to have and to add to your blog if you use Twitter.

so im guessing since i keep running into a brick wall every time i search for a “working” interactive twitter widget for my website that they dont exist. nothing i have tried has worked seems to be an issue with their server or their js code, im thinking ok its just not that important to twitter to offer people convience anymore… they know about the problem why dont they atleast fix their own widget…. so my question is, does a “working one” actually exist or are we all SOL on this one until the techs a twitter finally graduate from high school lol… sorry just being funny..
to be fair to Twitter staff i understand there api may be down at the moment due to some worthless POS russian but what about the last two months, their widget has been broke for at least that long… i do wish Twitter gets back online, my customers cant wait, but wake up guys and gals, have a backup plan next time, your in the big league now not in a classroom lab…. remember life is about hoping for the best but preparing for the worst… good luck and come back soon.. we love ya…. really we do even if we are pissed at the moment… peace
@Dave
How interactive you need the widget?. but i can understand that in many blog platforms the javascript, jquery, ajax based widgets are just a big no no. but you mean that not even Flash objects work?. how about Silverlight that handles itself in both objects and iframes?. there silverster, look it up here.
