Well in this case widgets are simply bits of code that you can add to your blog, web site or community profile. I really dislike widgetbox since they added ads to the widgets and instead of sharing profits with devs they charge them if they don’t want ads in their widgets… WTF?
Ernesto,
Any idea how much WidgetBox makes from the ads?
Well, apart from widgets I make games as well and distribute them through Mochiads.
They pay me 50% of the ads revenue which is about $0.50 for every 1000 ad impressions.
The problem is my games are not as popular as some of my widgets, for example the Flash Date Calendar gets about 50,000 impressions daily!
If their eCPM is similar to Mochiads’ (which I guess it’s the case) then they are pocketing $50 daily from that widget alone.
Oh well…
Nice widgets though, the outer space is a really nice and interesting subject
Ernesto,
Even if they shared revenue with you at 50% on your widget, that would be a very nice income!
I think Widgetbox would be nothing without all of the FREE widgets from developers like you. They need to realize this.
Is there any way to organize widget developers in to some sort of unified force to command a revenue sharing model?
