Twitter to release embeddable Tweets tomorrow

Twitter, in a blog post over at Twitter Media , has indicated that they plan to release the ability to embed actual Tweets in blogs and websites.

News reports from TechCrunch and VentureBeat confirm the report.

Images below show what an ‘Embedded Tweet’ may look like.

The Twitter Media post points you to another page with an embedded Tweet and indicates that the new Twitter option could be very similar.

In all likelyhood, there will be few, if any customization options. You will simply be able to copy a bit of HTML to paste where you like. Post, sidebar etc.

No, really. It’s very simple. Just a snippet of code you’ll be able to use to generate simple, selectable flat-HTML tweets

Based on the Tweet thats embedded over at Twitter Media ‘Tweeting from the Ash Cloud‘, Hovering over the Twitter User’s name will allow you to ‘Follow’ them only.

I do hope they add a retweet and a reply option to this embed. Something like this would make the “Embeddable Tweet’ far more social.

I will update this post tomorrow with further developments.

Update:Blackbird Pie. The Blackbird Pie announcement post. Check out what the developer has to say. Then check out my post on EmbedTweet. A far better solution.
