We all know that the stock keyboard for Android is the best stock Android keyboard…right?
If it was the best…and delivered all desired options, there would be no other Android keyboards around. However, this is not the case! There are many Android keyboards available that do a whole bunch of different keyboarding things.
For example:
We have the ‘Finger Drag’ style keyboards.
Swype. Which is currently in registered beta testing. This means go here to sign up and they will send you a download link to your phone to install the very cool Swype keyboard. (You cannot currently get Swype in the Android Market)
SlideIT Soft Keyboard (15 day demo…$6.50) This is a very popular ‘Finger Drag’ keyboard that boasts over 1 million installs, currently has a 4+ star rating with over 300 reviews. SlideIT Soft Keyboard in the Android Market
MessagEase is an entirely different style of mobile phone keyboard. I’m not sure if this is good or bad…but 100,000 people have tried it and have rated it 4 stars. Check out the video. MessagEase in the Android Market
SlideType Keyboard is another entry into the Android Slide, Swipe, Drag, style keyboard segment. This keyboard is similar in layout to MessagEase where the keys are laid out in a phone dialer style format. If space on your phone is tight, this one is only 63kb. SlideType in the Android Market
