LinkedTube: Flash Layered Links For Your YouTube Videos

October 9th, 2008

tmp11

LinkedTube is a very straight forward, simple and smart widget tool. it is designed so you can take any YouTube Video you have produced and then create a Flash Layer Widget (or Wrapper Widget if you will) with a Link and a Message for it. the link will then be floating as a button in the video and will show a message if you hover the link button.

That way you can link and promote your page (blog, site or social network profile) or link to something else directly in the video. like a Paypal account as the example shows. the simplest i had seen before LinkedTube was Overlay.TV which is pretty easy to use but that is more advanced and complex than this. this is so quick and easy that you can have your Linked YouTube Video in less than a minute. there is no simpler than that from a third party solution.

Really cool idea and Video Embeddable Tool for anyone to use. interesting enough the tool is using Google App engine and Google Adsense to maintain itself.

Google AdSense For Games

October 9th, 2008

Google

Google had In-Game Advertising in development for quite some time. they started accelerating its development in late 2007. now they are unleashed the first product out of that effort. they have decided to start with Web Based Games. that means they will start with Flash Based Games. but that also means that there will be lots of Flash Game Widgets using Adsense not only as part of the widget but inside the content.

They Started with a huge bang. they have reunited the biggest Flash Games companies around:

tmpD

This with the exception of Konami that is also big game company in every market. AdSense for Flash Based Games is something big. as big as it was when AdSense for Bloggers started. this will give a better Business model for those companies. something that ensures that if Casual Gaming and Web Based Gaming was already huge. it can get to become ubiquitous and totally mainstream because there will be money to be earned.

But it don`t stops in Flash Game Portals. it will extend to Game Widgets that will now be able to display Widgets Ads and In Game Advertising in order to bring better games for free.  Flash 10 and Silverlight 2 are around the corner. both count with more 3D gaming capabilities. so the growth in power and sophistication for web based games should also be noticeable. i am expecting that we will see Web based games as good  and long as those in the Nintendo DS and PSP to be running in browsers within a year. so imagine how much in-game Advertising around gaming will be able to grow?. thinking it is only for casual gaming would be short sighted and would not make any sense.

Google surely knows it and that is why  they will try to pioneer the way to the top with the fist big scale global advertising network for this market.

Entrecard puts itself for sell then retreats. Real or Marketing Stunt?

Over a week ago. Entercard, the blog traffic exchange Widget Badge was put itself for sale in the Sitepoint Marketplace for a minimum price of $100,000.

Mircea Goia at TheNextWeb blog wrote about it puzzled by the why someone would sell entrecard instead of invest on it more. why puzzled?. because entrecard is doing quite well:

Entrecard was basically founded as a traffic exchange service for bloggers (English language only). It launched 11 months ago and now it has about 20,000 blogs in its network delivering about 80 million impressions a month. The core product is the widget network, which serves 125×125 advertising across 56 vertical channels in the blogosphere. They also developed a Firefox toolbar used by our bloggers/publishers to visit other sites, purchase advertising, and pack the power of the site into the browser. This toolbar is used by 7000 bloggers so they claim.

According to Sitepoint’s post Entrecard has about 85,000 unique visitors a month (growing at a rate of 18%/month – no marketing) and 3,25 million pageviews/month. But Compete.com showssomething else.

So, it don`t matter if compete numbers are not entirely accurate. if you got a growth graphic like that one.  you don`t just sell right?. Right!. Graham Langdon (Entrecard owner) retreated from the idea and now says it is more committed to it than before.

Not only that but now they are looking to hire a Content Correspondant, came up with a serious update to their business model and also announced a Partnership with OIO Publishing for Blog Advertising..

That means it went from looking for a quick exit for as low as 100k to get some serious boost in less than one week. now it could be worth as much as 1 million dlls based on those simple changes. quite fishy. but if it was indeed marketing it was a wildcard. using it once and in the way it was used was pretty smart. as with most wildcards. you only get to use them once. so even if Entrecard would end up for sale next year. now it is obvious it would be able to get as much as 1 million. this is not the first time a Startup does that trick. but it is the first time for a widget startup as far as i can remember.

I do like Entrecard because it is simple and it is not a heavy widget to put. so it does represent one of the best  Blog Traffic Exchange options currently present for Bloggers.

RockYou Shocks Everyone

By mistakenly leave out 450 advertising partners and potentials partner out in the clear!!!:

From TechCrunch

At 6:40 pm last night, a RockYou employee sent out an email to RockYou’s entire existing and potential advertising partners – 450 people in all. The email itself was a simple notice of RockYou’s new advertising website, and a request to “please change their ad tags to reflect the changes in our ad servers.”

Pretty run of the mill stuff, except RockYou included every email address in the CC field, providing every recipient (and everyone it’s been forwarded to, including us) with a complete contact list of every major application developer and potential advertiser on the Facebook platform.

Nice.

Daamn. i guess that the employee who did it is no longer working in RockYou or was seriously reprimanded. this is was a serious mistake. now every RockYou competitor (Slide) and Widget Startup knows who is interested in widget advertising and they can then match up their list to their own and see who is missing, plan up that list, etc.

I bet this caused a good day in the widget space all thanks to RockYou who now has suffered a little PR damage. on the other hand it could still end up being positive because this gave more awareness to their RockYou Ad Platform than anything else.

Why, hello everyone in the world who makes Facebook apps
