Facebook Activity Feed widget spawns

April 25th, 2010 sprouted up almost instantly after Facebook announced their bevy of new ‘social plugins’ last week.

Venturebeat explains: takes Facebook’s activity feed plug-in, which shows what your friends “like” on other pages, copies it several times while referencing different destinations like YouTube, The Huffington Post and CNN and puts them all in one place.

The combined effect is to show you what friends are liking on sites across the web on sites like MTV and Pandora. It’s a completely different interface for understanding what’s happening in your social network; instead of seeing status updates and photos, you’re seeing content that friends are enjoying on other sites.

Just like announced in October.  Netvibes got Facebook Connet integration for its Social Content Sharing feature that allows you to share widgets and news from Netvibes to your Facebook contacts using Facebook Connect. it has been enjoying this feature for over a week now and it looks like it works all right. this Social Kind of Quick Content Sharing should get into High Spread Sharing modules pretty soon as sharing to your Social Graph because more common thanks to Social Graph API`s

Netvibes implementation already hints in that direction but does other kind of advances for Social News Sites and Startpages that now finally can be seen as possible instant social hubs thanks to this.

These changes and natural progression should also allow for Netvibes to continue being the best Idenpendet Startpage as iGoogle goes into another direction integrating everything Google into a single page.

Netvibes last big news is its current success with partnerships. the big news to come in Oct 23 is that Netvibes will have Facebook Connect integration. Facebook Connect is like Live ID Auth or MySpace Data Availability API. it allows Netvibes users to interact with Friends on Facebook. but it goes beyond just that. in Netvibes case is also a Gateway to get inside Facebook and for Facebook to be able to get Content to track inside the Social Network.

One of Netvibes strengths is that it is very capable for news sharing. so Netvibes users will be able to share news with their Facebook friends but also share photos, videos and yes Widgets. a huge deal for users because Netvibes got one of the biggest Startpage Widget Ecosystems. it is only second to iGoogle. but Google is a Facebook and Netvibes competitor. that is where this deal and integration makes sense for Facebook too that has to compete with The OpenSocial offerings.

This is great news. so as i said. Widgets will continue to be OK in Facebook.
