Frank Gruber of somewhat frank did a little video on Clearspring with my favorite clearspring widgets lab reader Justin Thorp where frank plays dumb on widgets. weird because he also happens to read this blog (on and off, but you get the point) while justin does a quick demo on Clearspring. while all that magic happens Frank decides to end up with a punchline asking justin about a rumor going around of clearspring being acquired (i also wonder about that). that alone makes it a must watch.
And just to clear some things up on the video since they are common things i mention here:
On Widget Advertising
Widget Ads: ads inside a widget, they are part of the widget or integrate into it.
Ad Widget: the widget itself sole purpose is being a ad, the ad is the widget and the widget is a ad.
On the Clearspring Launchpad
The module Justin shows is something i call high spread sharing because it allows a widget to be quickly spread around without the need of copy and paste by sharing its embed code into several services and a icon inside that high spread sharing module is what i denominate Quick Install Link as it calls the specific install code and action for that service.
This is now finally common in the big widget startups and its called in many ways by each company so that is why i settled on these names for general use
