WebCards: Widgetized Presentation Websites as a Online Business Card and more.

May 13th, 2008

This is one of those cases where the long title is not only needed but even with the long title. it don´t covers the service overall concept.

WebCards is a Venture backed d by SmallTown which is focused in Promo Local Business Listing and then extends from there.

With webcards.  they have done a mashup of many old concepts that work as one thing taking the Widget as what it glues everything together. and those would be  the WebCards, these are Widgets that simulate a presentation site. a common business promo website. one of the most common things ever but placed inside a widget. the widget represents your business website and that is served as a independent page as inside a specially promoted local business listing.

Webcard in Action

Why  i say it is specially promoted?. because i counts with some SEO-SEP magic that will assure your WebCard Widget landing page is not only indexed by Search Engines but has a good position in them. how?. because they submit your page to the search engine. how?. well, that is not disclosed but given that you pay a minimum of 9dlls a month and up to 600dlls  you can guess that for such a price it is not just about having a totally customizable webcard.

The idea is great  it  combines many common promotion tactics into one and then gives it a “web 2.0″ approach to execute it. and considering there is no free version of this because it really cannot be a free version for it to actually work. i think they have something good going on here. it can work and thrive simply because i have seen the voracious industry there is around business listing and local commerce listings and SEO-SEP promotion by separate. offering something that does more than a bit of each one of them while offering something new.

There is lots to read, so if this interest you, check their page.

Npost is online service to find Jobs, Interviewers and Events. simple as that. what makes the different from the crowd of other job posting services is that cover a very specific niche only, startup jobs and that they offer a simple but yet useful widget where you can see the latest job offerings but also search for more specific job listings.

They also got a affiliate program to go with the widget, so if yo got a tech related blog and want to give it a try, you should check it out too.

WidgetBucks announces Yieldsense

January 23rd, 2008

widgetbucks-logo.jpg

Wow!
Based upon recent successes (1 billion ads served in 83 days= $1 mil at 1/2 penny per ad) Widgetbucks has formed what they call the “WidgetBucks Customer Council”.

This group is used as a way interpret customer response to new ideas.

One of the new ideas they are working on is called YieldSense.

YieldSense is a contextual PPC widget designed to deliver the highest yield ads based upon previous performance.

The experts say it more eloquently:

One example of new features and technology being tested by the WBCC is YieldSense(TM), a contextual, pay-per-click (PPC) ad widget that displays the highest yielding product categories and ad creative based on a revenue score that is automatically generated from past performance. We anticipate YieldSense (and specific details about it) to be more widely available in February.

What does this mean?
Does this mean that a WidgetBucks widget placed on your blog will deliver the most relevant ad to the individual viewing your page? Or does it mean that the ad served is the most popular among other like minded surfers?

I also think that they are trying to serve up the most profitable ad (profitable for the publisher) and I see this as maybe not sitting well with advertisers. It would be the same as Google Adsense telling everyone what the most expensive keywords (Adwords) are and then delivering them to everyones blog or website.
This would result in higher advertising prices and a drop in publisher payouts. A win win for WidgetBucks…until advertisers pull out.

Interesting!

Channel 4 Widget contest

December 10th, 2007

12_10_2007 07_16 p.m.

From the good developments in news and talk that were exchanged in the WidgetyGoodnees conference that happened in the U.K last week comes the news from a Widget Contest sponsored by Channel4 of UK TV so you take their Feed and do a mash up with it, the best mash up can win up to 1500 pounds that given the weak state of the dollar it is over 3000 dlls so i find it more than a worthy prize for a mash up.

And even the consolation price of 250 pounds seems like quite a hefty amount of money for the 2 and third place. so if you want to know more about it, you only need to click here:
