Millions of songs on your website

January 25th, 2010

Medianet (http://www.mndigital.com/) offers website owners an easy way to add music content to their pages with many different widgets. Medianet calls them “Web Components”.

Song of the Day

The Song of the Day widget allows your readers to experience a different song each day. They have the ability to listen and purchase music without having to leave your site. (JavaScript)

Most of Medianet’s “Web Components” are geared towards websites with musical content. The widgets have the ability to deliver music that is directly related to the content on your site.
I would assume that if you were to write a post about Rage Against The Machine, the “Web Components” would then deliver Rage Against The Machine music and possibly music related to that group.

Media Charts

Relevant Media Search

Media Explorer

There are seven “Web Components” available from Medianet. Some simply create links in your content to a JavaScript page that provides more information about the selected artist. Other widgets provide detailed stories about an artist with links to purchase their music.

MediaNet’s Web Components provide the simple, quickest and easiest way to add engaging digital content to your website. Take advantage of MediaNet’s trusted MN Open technology platform, a library of 7 million songs and music videos and a feature-rich set of components to keep your users on your site.

With MediaNet’s Web Components, all you have to do to is choose your configuration and then copy and paste small code snippets, without any coding experience, to dynamically display music content wherever you put them on your site.

Check out Medianet. They offer far more musical solutions than I can cover in this post.

Soundcloud widgets…rock!

January 15th, 2010

I’m sure you have heard of SoundCloud by now. Its the perfect music sharing service without the “Eye Patch”.

This video explains SoundCloud perfectly. (I love her voice!)

SoundCloud: The Tour from SoundCloud on Vimeo.

SoundCloud has some pretty cool widgets available.

Just like the name. It is a bare bones, playable music link. There are also options available to “short code” add this to WordPress.

This widget is more suited to the blog sidebar. The widget offers links to info, sharing and ability to purchase tracks. There are volume controls and simple song stats as well.

This here is the showcase of the SoundCloud widgets. All the features of the “Expressionist” widget above, plus the ability to comment at any point on the track, right in the widget. I put an image in place, but I am also putting the live widget below so you can try it out and see.

WebsiteMusicPlayer — Secure Transaction widget for Artists

December 27th, 2009

WebsiteMusicPlayer is an embeddable Flash music player widget that allows artists to securely sell their music. There are feature like encrypted download links that can be set to allowone download or a limited number of downloads. Also available are metrics that allow the artist to easily see how many items they have sold.
Transactions are done through PayPal in order to offer an easily recognizable standard that most users will feel comfortable with.

WebsiteMusicPlayer is not a free service. They make their money via monthly or yearly subscriptions. There is no “per purchase” fee.

How does it work?

At any time while listening to your music, the listener can click each checkbox each one of your songs to select each song that they want to buy.

Next they click the ‘Click Here To Order’ (or your own custom text) button that is prominently displayed on the bottom of your player and an order summary page will open in a new window.

On this new page they click the ‘Proceed To Checkout’ button and will be brought to a payment screen where they can either pay you by credit card or use their existing Paypal® funds. This money is instantly deposited into your Paypal® account.

After successful payment, the customer is forwarded to a download page that contains only the songs that they’ve paid for. These protected download links are also emailed to the customer.

The customer is only allowed to download each song a set number of times (determined by you in your settings), after which the download links expire and delete themselves to prevent them from being shared.

Widget customization options:

A lot of thought went into making the color of your player as easy as possible to customize. It’s very simple to make it so the player color matches any website you want it to appear on.

In your account there’s an area where you can create, save, edit and delete custom player color schemes so that multiple color schemes are available to fit each website you embed the player in.

Each time you add the player to a different website it can have a unique color scheme.

You can set the color for the main parts of the player to any color you want. Easily select the color from a color picker interface or enter the html color value if you know it.

You can also edit the order button text at the bottom of the player in addition to the optional music licensing button that is provided by LicenseQuote.com .
