Quintura Site Search

November 4th, 2008

It is been close to two weeks since Quintura Started a Site Search version of their Quintura Search. this is a Widget that can be better integrated into a site and is also meant to occupy more space than the regular Quintura Cloud Widget.

In its short two weeks it already has gained some traction and now can be found in pretty much al the major Women Magazines in Russia and the U.S.A. it could be seen as a competition for Google and Live Custom Search and also as a competition to other Search Widgets like Lijit since Quintura pitches it as:

Quintura Site Search is a hosted site search, analytics and monetization solution for online content publishers. It provides intuitive, visual-based search and navigation for site visitor

We are not stranger to Quintura in Widgets Lab. we used to have it a quite ago just like we also used to have lijit search. so we are not biased to neither of them and we consider both options as unique in terms of alternative search engines and Widget Services.

Quintura search gets more funding

September 8th, 2008

Quintura, an alternative search option has received several million dollars in bridge funding from leading European early-stage venture capital investor Mangrove Capital Partners as a part of new financing round.

Widgetslab has written about Quintura in the past. Its nice to see quality companies getting top funding to continue their growth towards mass adoption.

I have always liked the Quintura search widget. Its a unique way to add an interactive search element to any webpage.
…and its written in web friendly Flash

The funding will help to scale the site search platform and grow monthly audience of Quintura Site Search from its current 8 million to 50 million in 2009 as well as helping to bring in new venture capital investors.

…see entire story at the Quintura blog

I like the fact that Quintura is focusing on site search. This gives them an edge over the competitors. I know most search engines have some form of site search, but I don’t see any that have an interactive widget that produces suggestions the way Quintura does.

The Quintura search widget (currently in the sidebar) offers your readers a completely different way to search. Utilizing the ‘Tag Cloud’ to display search terms that are relevant to the query you entered into the search bar.
Hover over the text to activate the search term. The first three results will be displayed below the search window. There are also a smattering of Favicons displayed in the cloud to aid in visual recognition of your search query.

Kid friendly
There is also a kid friendly version of the widget that filters results for the younger crowd. It’s as easy to put on your blog as the original but delivers an extra level of safety for your readers.

The code
This is a JavaScript widget. It is width and height adjustable to fit into your blog.

If you feel adventurous…you can dig into the code a bit and adjust the color of the background as well as the default search term. This is particularly cool for promoting themes or contests. You can even use this feature to push readers to information you think they would find useful.

The widget is Free to use and there is no registration necessary.

Where do I get it?
