Job hunting is quite a chore. i have seen others struggle with it. and many wondering “why there is not something that searches for jobs without me having to do pretty much nothing?”. ok, i know that seems like a stretch of extreme laziness but i bet it is a kinda accurate way to put it.
Having that in mind. there is SimplyHired. a job search engine with 6,000,000+ jobs up for the taking right now in the USA. they will soon also cover canada. but 6m jobs is a nice database from where start looking. but you could also use their widget instead and have it look for you or do new searches from it..
That is what the Simplyhired Widget from SpringWidgets aims for and does.
i searched for “widget” in the silicon valley area and i got 10 matches right away. so if it works for something like widget jobs. then it should work for pretty much any kind of honest job.
The widget comes with a distinctive and non customizable look. something to be expected in branded widgets. branded in this case not only from simplyhired but also from the developer, in this case SpringWidgets.
The widget is good, it does what it is supposed to do and you can expect it to remain operable because it comes from a good source like springwidgets. but what i must really applaud is their high spread sharing option within the widget. you got 20 quick install web options. 2 desktop options and also 2 raw embed options.
This certainly tops the regular gigya, widgetbox, netvibes and clearspring number of options, something important to always look for.
But not so fast. I am still scratching my head on the omissions in the supported quick installs. where is the windows ecosystem support? (vista,live spaces, my.live), what about Bebo and hi5?.
Those are 5 prime options that should have been there.. so please springwidgets. get to it. that way you will truly have the best high spread options in a widget. but because of that glaring omissions it is no wonder that the previously mentioned options are better on that side.
