Bebo has kept quite since AOL bought it back in march. so much that most of the news about bebo development have come from third parties. while all that happened bebo has concentrated on the transition of the company and the back end of things if the Bebo Developers Blog is any indication of how things are at Bebo. that does not means that third parties are not important, for the contraire. it has been quite a push to the bebo app platform that now boasts 6000+ apps.
The only problem with the bebo app directory is that it is not well catalogued and like facebook, it has turned into a utter madness where even something like a badge, a simple widget-app is considered a bebo app. that is wrong and it should be better catalogued to entice grow in the better apps and to keep things well classified.
Having said that. even with all their apps they haven`t been able to take on hi5 momentum and they are rumored to be battling it out at the level of friendster. something not that good because the amount of apps and widget-apps they got.
So maybe that is where the recent announcement of the new Bebo Auth API`s enter into the picture. they need to get the word out about bebo and what a better way that letting developers take what they have in bebo into the web?.
This is a good move by bebo and i hope we get to see some social graphed bebo widgets soon enough.
